nice show thanks
In 1993 or so I remember reading a music critic who compared Jeff Buckley to patti laBelle, Daniel Day Lewis = Faye Dunaway totally reminded me of that. Oh, I loved the movie, maybe in a campy weird way as you explained. The first PTA I was really really loved. Maybe boys need a Blanche DuBois icon too? Totally agree on the music too--really didn't suit it.
Two Questions:
1. What do you reccomend as an amount for an annual donatin to SYMT? Is there an ideal or "average" amount that would be good if each member gave?
2. Is the donation tax deductible?
I'm not rolling in money, but I'd like to do my part.
Hey Joanne, haha yes maybe boys need a Blanche DuBois too. I think John Malkovich has mentioned this before a time or two.
hey KurosawaFan, It's good to hear from you. Most listeners donate in increments of $5, 10, 20, or 50. But there is no set amount and we appreciate all donations. Donations are not tax-exempt.
Take care!
hey cathy and erin--
a few thoughts:
i totally disagree on there will be blood. the music was wrenching in a totally appropriate way. reminded me a bit of koyaniskazi (in a good way). but maybe this comment is just ammunition against the music choice if you hate phillip glass.
also: not all the christians were stupid: case in point would be landowner (bandy) who puts together that plainview has just killed a man and burried him on the property, stealing plainview's gun prior to plainview waking up. i'd say this was crafty.
i do agree the milkshake monologue was OUT OF CONTROL. i'm with you there.
last comment was me: holly robot
hey Holly Robot! I'm impressed with the boldness of defending the TWBB score with a Phillip Glass example! But yeah, I just disagree.
You're totally right about Bandy, I liked that scene as well. Although even though he was crafty he's still buying into this preacher that I feel the audience is never even for a moment supposed to be moved by.
I think the pop cultural phenomenon surrounding the milkshake scene as worn me down. Though I will not be buying this:
